The world will be so boring without the colors that we see every day. Our life is colorful and magical and we just need to see it.
For example, have you noticed how amazing are the dogs with really bright blue eyes and black hair? The contrast of the two is amazing, but for both colors there is a reason. Do you know what gives those exact colors?
The reason for the color of your hair and skin and eyes is called melanin. More exactly skin cells – “melanocytes”. They produce the melanin in your body. It also has the power to protect your skin from harmful UV rays, although it will not be able to prevent sunburn by itself, don’t forget that.
Here are 2 simple tips that can help your body produce more melanin:
#1 Balanced nutrition
If you want to have healthy body and skin you should find a balanced way to live your life. Try to nourish your skin from the inside out and to promote its general health. If your body is missing minerals or vitamins you will have pale and dry skin.
Melanin is the one that makes the skin to tan and to appear darker. Vitamins E and C are very useful when it comes to your skin. If you live in an area where there isn’t a lot of sun, you should consider taking vitamin D supplements. Add enough omega-3 fatty acids to you diet, it helps moisturizing your hair and skin from the inside out.
#2 Balanced sun exposure
If you are lucky and you live in a place that gets a lot of sunshine during the whole year just go outside and enjoy it. This way your skin will naturally stimulate the produce of melanin.
Don’t forget to use UV protection! Don’t go sunbathing between 11 am and 3 – 4pm because during those hours the intensity of the sun is very strong. We mentioned that melanin is protects your skin from the sun, but it needs some back up, because it can’t prevent sun burns on its own.
Some people are big fans of tanning beds, others are completely against. Whatever decision to make, just be sure that you are doing the best for your health.
It is important to look good, but there is nothing more important than health.
