Preventing Dandruff Naturally

If there is one problem common to everyone in this world, then it is dandruff. It is not only inconvenient and unhygienic, but extremely irritating as well.

Prolonged dandruff without being treated can lead to infection of the scalp, doctors say. It can cause itchy scalp, as well as dry hair.

Nonetheless, below are a few homemade remedies made with over the counter natural products to reduce dandruff and prevent it from coming back for a long period of time.

  • Lemons: Cut a lemon into two halves. Squeeze the melon juice from one half and add to one or one and a half spoonful of coconut oil. Apply this with a piece of cotton on to your scalp and leave it on for an hour. Then gently wash off your hair with a mild shampoo.
  • Apple cider vinegar: Take half a cup of apple cider vinegar and add two cups of normal water into it. After showering, pour all of it into your hair and gently massage your scalp for a few minutes with the tips of your fingers, before washing it off with room temperature water.
  • Baking soda: Add a few pinches of baking soda into your shampoo and then use it like you normally do. You will notice significant changes in a few days.
  • Yoghurt: Take plain, unflavored yoghurt in a bowl and apply little by little directly to your scalp. Leave it for two hours and then wash it off with a mild shampoo.
